Hendrikson & Ko has offered environmental assessment, protection, and conservation-related services for transport infrastructure technical design process from the year 2000. Throughout the years we have been the market leaders and setting the quality standards for the related services. In Estonia, the main focus has been on the road projects and therefore most of the transport related projects have been about road infrastructure.

Road Designs Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Environmental impact assessment is carried out for all the bigger road designs, in case there is a chance for significant environmental impacts. Hendrikson & Ko has compiled the most road design EIAs according to 2010 report by The Road Administration.

Preliminary environmental assessment for road designs

According to Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management System Act, it is obligatory for the deciding party to give a preliminary assessment about the necessity of EIA. Theses preliminary assessments are often ordered from the contractor. Hendrikson & Ko offers advice about potentially significant environmental impacts. We have great legal knowledge and experience of this field and we can help you compiling a preliminary environmental assessment for a road design in the level of detail suitable for you. We have also consulted The Road Administration about the matter.

Environmental management plans for the road design construction period

The necessity to compile an environmental management plan for the road design construction period is often specified in the design criteria. Compiling of these management plans is done according to the best Estonian and foreign practices and experience.

Construction supervision for road designs

High-quality spatial planning, technical design compiling and environmental impact assessment are not very useful if the construction process is not actually done according to them. There are very few examples in Estonia where the environmental expert is involved in owner supervision team, but we have participated in foreign projects as the environmental expert. We are also filling in the environmental expert role in the only known Estonian road construction project where the environmental expert is individually involved – Tartu´s Eastern Ring Road Construction.

Road design administration

Thanks to our great experience in road planning and designs we have been consulting and assisting project managers to ensure smooth progress. We also offer project administration service for road design process.
