Hendrikson DGE provides Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) services.
LCA and EPD provide companies with reliable information about the environmental impacts of their products throughout their entire life cycle. An EPD is based on an LCA conducted in accordance with specific standards and product category rules, with the reliability of the data ensured through independent third-party verification.
Once verified, the EPD is published on an online platform. The published EPD report does not disclose commercially sensitive company information, such as details of production processes or supply chains. Instead, it provides transparent and reliable information about the product’s environmental footprint.

When preparing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), we assess environmental impacts throughout the entire product life cycle, including greenhouse gas emissions. Based on these findings, we can work with companies to identify and plan further steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
In response to the needs of the construction materials market, we have primarily specialised in preparing EPDs for construction products. We use SimaPro software and the Ecoinvent database for these assessments.
This service is increasingly relevant, as several European countries already require life cycle assessments (LCAs) for buildings and environmental product declarations (EPDs) for construction materials. EPD requirements are already in place in Sweden, Norway, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, while similar regulations are being introduced or developed in Finland, Denmark and other countries. In Estonia, discussions are ongoing about implementing comparable requirements.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) adds value to your product in several ways:
- Competitive advantage: A product with a verified EPD can provide a competitive advantage among end customers and in procurement processes, including green public procurement.
- Reliable environmental data: Gain credible information about your product’s environmental performance and identify opportunities to improve production processes.
- Understanding environmental impacts: Determine your product’s environmental impacts, including greenhouse gas emissions.
- Carbon footprint reduction: Use the results of an EPD or LCA to take informed steps towards reducing the carbon footprint of your company and its products.
- Quantifiable results: Obtain measurable results that enable comparisons between similar products using a defined functional or declared unit (e.g. m², m³ or tonne).
